Ticket sales are strong, but there’s still time to get in on the fun – and help fund repairs at Farmington Hills’ historic Longacre House – said Tina Jensen, who’s co-chairing the event with Linda Wantin.

“It makes us happy to know (funds raised) go right to improvements,” Jensen said. “We like to keep the Longacre House as updated as we can – and to make it as cozy as a home.”

Proceeds from last year’s fashion show were used to paint the interior, redo the floors in the dining room and porch, and purchase new curtains. Items on this year’s wish list include new flooring in Longacre’s bride’s room, bride’s porch, kitchen and hall, and paint “touch-ups” in the front entrance, she said.

The event typically raises at least $8,000 each year – “but we’re happy with anything we make,” Jensen added. “We love the community support, and we know that everyone wants to see it become nicer and a more welcoming place.”

“Models” taking the runway this year are Terri Weems, Diane Bauman, Nancy Coumoundouros, Rachel Timlin, Karen Blazaitis, Valerie Knowles, Pam Smith, Michelle Jakacki, Ellen Schnackel and Pam Wright. All will be prom dress shops in outfits from the Clothing Cove in Milford and be styled by The Studio for Hair Eight youngsters are participating, too.

Tickets are $40 and include lunch. A boutique opens at 10:30 a.m., with the luncheon and fashion show following at noon. The event is sponsored by Farmington Hills Special Services and Friends of the Parks. For tickets and more information, call 248-477-8404.

The Longacre House, located on Farmington Road between 10 Mile and 11 Mile roads, was built in 1869, then redesigned and expanded in the 1920s. The house and five acres of surrounding land were donated to use as a nonprofit community center in 1869.
