The fight against terrorism the Pakistani government has implemented drastic measures to control the movement of mobile phones in the territory. Thus, after an attack on a school in Peshawar last December, it was announced that the Pakistanis have a mobile phone had to submit their fingerprints in order to verify their identity. So are millions of people queuing in front of the mobile phone shops in the country, to demonstrate that their fingerprints match those contained in government files. An initiative that should enable authorities to more easily find the terrorists plotting directly the user of a mobile phone if suspicious activity is detected there.

As for those who refuse to give fingerprints, the sentence is clear: phone access to the network is blocked. That would be the case for about 7 million laptops, according to the Pakistani authorities.

This initiative ridge to ensure the safety of the population (phones have especially been used to detonate remote bombs), however, creates controversy: is it now just to threaten to deny any part of the phone population to fight against terrorism? The threat seems to work anyway, since already 38 million Pakistanis went to register their fingerprints. This measure, which requested the establishment of considerable resources (the director of the operator Mobilink said in particular have sent 700 vehicles in remote villages to go to meet customers living too far to travel) is however not a first: thus, in 2014 Pakistanis were already undergo biometric verification if they wanted to buy a new SIM card.
