Fashion show on Friday in Highland to benefit kids with cancer

Heather Pearson Photography in Highland has teamed up with a local organization Leaps of Love to raise awareness for childhood cancer, as well as encourage teens to participate in the FLY Program, by hosting a “Fashion for Love” fashion show on Friday, Aug. 5 at the Highland Knights of Columbus Hall.

A few weeks ago, members of the Heather Pearson Photography #FLY team met with children from the Leaps of Love family at The Korte Co. to get to know one another. They all participated in a few ice breakers and some pretty intense “Minute to Win It” games. The meeting was in preparation for our second annual charity fashion show, which will take place on Friday. Hope Imming and Maggie, , a child who has been impacted by the generosity of Leaps of Love, have some fun at the event at The Korte Co.

The #FLY program (F.L.Y - First Love Yourself) was created to focus on being the best “you” that you can be. This is a year-long experience that allows teens and seniors to be part of a group of peers who encourage one another as they share in fun experiences, grow self-confidence with every shoot, and give back to the community. The kids on the #FLYTEAM are amazing individuals who are working hard to promote the upcoming fashion show by obtaining sponsors and selling tickets. All proceeds from the show go to Leaps of Love, a Highland-based charity that supports families effected by childhood cancer.

The goal is to beat the $2,000 the fashion show raised last year.

Models will include some of the children who have been directly impacted by Leaps of Love, as well as some Highland area students. They will be showcasing fashions from Jak and Peppar, Buckle, and Girls’ Night Out.

VIP admission ($40) begins at 6 p.m., with appetizers and front-row seating. General admission ($20) begins at 6:15. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available for purchase at the door.
