It does not appear that the drone was hit by a projectile or laser on its descent (although the evidence for this would certainly change this analysis). Barring a physical projectile, the known non-kinetic methods of stopping a drone are threefold: radio frequency (RF) jam, global navigation satellite system (GNSS) jam, and spoofing. With Radio Frequency Jammers, the link between the drone and its operator is cut, usually causing the drone to descend or return home. With GNSS, the drone's link to satellite navigation is lost, and the drone typically stays in place, lands, or returns home. With spoofing, the attacker feeds the drone new information to take control of its flight.

China continues to develop a variety of capabilities designed to limit or prevent the use of space assets by adversaries during a crisis or conflict, including the development of directed energy weapons and satellite jammers and GPS jammer.

Given China's role as a world leader in drone and unmanned aircraft (UAS) exports, it only makes sense that China is also developing a range of anti-riot capabilities to prevent unauthorized or hostile flying robots from passing sensitive sites or vulnerable. In Wuhan's case, the gps jammer with "guns" - known not only because they "fire" but also because they look like an assault rifle - cost about $ 19,000 and can control signal jammer up to a kilometer away ( although that figure assumes that the user has an exceptional objective).

This anti-drug weapon is also not China's only military jammer. The country is already selling truck-mounted laser cannons: the Low Altitude Guard and the higher-powered Silent Hunter. The Silent Hunter uses a laser to strike at ground and air targets up to 4 kilometers (approximately 2.5 miles) away, and at a closer range it is powerful enough to threaten lightly armored vehicles.
