Cathy and Roy’s relationship divided many fans, especially as it came together so quickly after the death of Roy’s soulmate Hayley. Over time, the couple have become more accepted by many viewers, with many now rooting for a bit of happiness for them both.

It was’t to be though, as Cathy discovered her groom’s reluctance to wed and ‘freed’ him from his obligation to fulfil his promise to marry her after calling a stop to the big day.

The pair had a heart to heart and Cathy was emotional as a seemingly relieved Roy agreed that they should just be friends and the final realisation hit home for her back at the cafe when she told Roy she did love him and he merely thanked her.

While Cathy left, feeling vulnerable, a subdued Roy returned his former wedding ring to his finger but now fans are fearing that we have actually seen the last of Cathy.

We can confirm however, that these scenes did not signal an exit for the character and Melanie will be back on screen soon as Cathy. As Roy moves on with his life and makes a huge decision over the cafe, will he find himself feeling guilty over how things ended between him and Cathy?

And might there even be a possibility that he will change his mind?

Whether or not the pair remain friends or even give a relationship another chance after more time has passed, fans of Roy and Cathy can at least breathe a sigh of relief that the wedding twist doesn’t mean the end for Roy and Cathy’s scenes together.
