For the metal pressing of a particular part, an aluminum alloy is selected, the material having known tensile and deformation properties in its cold rolled and tempered state for the preparation of metal stamping. The physical requirements of the part are specified sheet metal with a suitable surface profile and thickness.

 

The ability of the blank to be embossed into the desired shape of the product using die / concave-type cooling is evaluated. Such evaluation can be performed by an experimental and / or appropriate calculation model, for example using a finite aluminum element analysis method. If it is found that the part proposed can not be manufactured in a metal stamping operation without tearing or bending the sheet material, the following metal pressing / annealing method may be used.

 

It is a strategy of the present invention to emboss an aluminum alloy die-cast work piece which forms a substantial part of the deformation required to obtain the final molded part without the aluminum foil being extruded and without excess sheet dilution.
